5 tips for gardening in hot weather
Water wisely - shallow root vegetables like lettuces and tomatoes need more water than deep rooted vegetables like carrots and parsnips
Do not water grass - it will brown very quickly in hot spells but recover again later
Conserve water and protect plants by watering late in the evening or early morning
Increase water holding capacity of your soil by adding lots of organic matter to the soil regularly
Keep soil covered all the time by growing plants or covering with 5 cm thickness of additional mulch
