How to prepare roses for winter

• stop feeding during August so the plants slow down growth and flowering

• from September onwards do not deadhead spent flowers so they can make hips and the plant moves energy into  the  seed making

• avoid unnecessary cutting  and stem removing so not to promote late growth which could be later damaged by harsh weather
