The garden plant of the month: Aechinacea - Coneflower


A reliable perennial with pink, white, orange or yellow daisy flowers

  • likes sunny position with soil which doesn’t get waterlogged in winter

  • creates strong sturdy clump if left undisturbed and not overcrowded

  • important source of nectar for bees and butterflies

  • original species of purple coneflower is easy to propagate from seeds

  • Aechinacea flowers or leaves can be added to herbal teas to support immunity and fight off colds
